Best Practices Workshop

Workshop Description

The Earth and Space Science Partnership (ESSP) team held a workshop for approximately 25 attendees. The workshop was designed primarily for STEM faculty at any of the Penn State campuses who are involved in science teacher professional development. We expected the audience to be a mix of faculty with a range of expertise in this area from novice through expert.

Workshop sessions focused on topics inspired by those in “Designing Professional Development for Teachers of Science and Mathematics” by Loucks–Horsely and co-authors. We hoped the sessions would be at the appropriate level so that faculty with some expertise already will learn something from their colleagues, and also that faculty who intend to get involved for the first time will leave with a good foundation to begin participating in teacher professional development.
